2006 CFeMmys - Vote Now!!
The nominations are in and have been verified. I'm pleased to announce that the voting will now begin for the 2006 CFeMmys. Please note - one of the reasons that I first accepted nominations prior to the voting was that I wanted these awards to be "for the people, by the people." With that in mind, I personally did not apply any personal biased or editorial judgment regarding any of the nominees. I did remove a few candidates from categories that were inappropriately nominated (for example the one nominator who thought Raymond Camden was the appropriate nominee for every single category including list of the year, forum of the year, etc... I did get a chuckle out of that one.
Also note that although I consider myself in touch with most of the community, I do not know every single list, forum, etc that exists - so therefore if I left something in that didn't belong I'm sorry.
There were some funny miscelaneous nominations. I think I will hand choose some Honorable Mentions from that bunch.
So what are you waiting for? Vote Now!
P.S. - Please use the survey, not the comments!

Also, for the publications. I am not sure everyone will know what FAQu is.
Works well though, much easier than the CFDJ readers choice awards going on right now, can't even submit that one.
I forwarded your suggestion to Ray about rendering the links.
Also I updated the publications to spell out the names rather than use the acronyms.
Thanks!
Josh - Ray noted off blog to me that I could have added the activateURL function at cflib to make the links hot. I should have done that - sorry about that :(
Maybe you should have a 'man of the year' category for people to nominate people like ray. ;-)
PS - I was only kidding about the 'stalker-ish' thing above!
Congrats on getting it all setup Todd! can't wait for the results
Of course, being that it's the Fusion Authority Quarterly Update, you can probably find out more information about it on... um... Fusion Authority. :)

This has been really fun - I'm shocked at how much community press this little adventure has gotten and the amount of votes that have come in.
But it's water under the bridge, I guess. You said in your earlier note that once you had 5 people posting nominations, you'd open the voting. But it just seems a shame that you don't continue to let folks make nominations. I realize doing that would skew the results (people voting early would miss the chance to vote on items added later). Or you could permit write-in votes (which you did only on the best open source Flex app). It just seems people ought to be able to add things that are not there now, one way or the other.
Sure, things will get better next year, and for those who were nominated it's surely an honor and a worthy recognition of their efforts.
I want to note that for grins, I followed the link in the earlier post about the nominations, and I tried adding some (like I added Ben's blog for best blog, though I voted for someone else's--I just think his deserves to be listed). It didn't show up immediately, but if it If it shows up, then it seems people CAN still add more nominations. If that's not what you expected, then you will want to disable that page. Indeed, if you are NOT accepting such nominations, you ought to disable the page, so no one else tries it. :-)
First off - Ben Forta's blog was nominated (several times), and it was 100% accidental and an error on my part that it did not make it in to the final vote. For this I'm truly embarrassed and apologize profusely. I promise Ben has an Honorable Mention or two coming.
The nominations were hot and heavy for the first day or two and then really tailed off (only 38 responders). I simply assumed that the whole operation was going to stay low key and we'd go with what we had. Little did I know that around 100 folks would be voting in the actual survey today.
I did set the Nominations survey in Soundings to Active = No - but apparently you also must set an end date - I had mistakenly assumed that Active = No would shut down that survey (it's now unavailable) - and don't worry, you're the only one who has tried to nominate since the official vote began.
I feel embarrassed about some of these things and hope that I do not look disorganized and irresponsible. Most of all I hope that the eventual winners will not look at a few oversights as tainting the true intent of the whole idea which was to give them a little pat on the back for their hard work.
I guess I do want to respond to your comment hoping that the "winners will not look at a few oversights as tainting the true intent of the whole idea which was to give them a little pat on the back for their hard work", well I'm sure they won't. :-)
But I'm thinking more of the others who were not nominated. I don't mean at all to knock those who were. Not at all.
Indeed, as long as you're taking feedback for next year, it seems there's no reason to limit nominations to just one entry per person. I mean, someone who's enthusiastic and knows of several nominees would not have had a means to offer any more than one. That may well explain some of the lack of breadth in entries offered. (For those who didn't make nominations, the form asked for one entry per category, and you entered one per page for a total of 12 pages). I suppose someone may have been able to run through all the nomination pages over and over, but I can see them perhaps feeling that they couldn't have done that.
If the soundings app permits it, I hope that next year you'll consider letting folks enter more than one nomination per category, on that one category's page.
Again, I don't want to sound like I'm complaining. Just trying to help this be the best it can be. There are a LOT of really deserving people and resources in the CFML community who are not mentioned, and it just seems a shame. But let's leave it at that. I wish all the entrants well, and I thank you on behalf of the community for taking a first crack at this idea.
