I don't often talk much about management/business here on my blog (maybe I should?) but I just found an interesting read via DZone. The author discusses "over-appreciative" bosses and proposes that sometimes their enthusiasm may actually do more harm then good. Give it a read.
Couldn't agree more. Excessive back-slapping and effusive praise come across, at the very least, as insincere and, at the very worst, as patronizing (even if it's not).
This has always been a bit of a pain point for me so I'm glad someone committed it to "paper". I wish I'd have thought to do so.
