Others have blogged about the Adobe ColdFusion Features Survey, and I normally wouldn't chime in unless I had something to say about it. I just took the survey and got a bit tickled at a few of the questions. Particularly:

#12 What kind of Audio/Video support would you want from ColdFusion?

  • Add, Extract and edit Metadata
  • Merge/Split/Extract audio/video clips
  • Play video/audio given the source

Personally I would love to see this. In fact, if anyone knows of a simple Java (or other) alternative that I could use today please drop a comment!!

Also of interest:

14. Which types of applications would you want to come bundled with ColdFusion by default?

  • Blog
  • Content Management System
  • Forums
  • Photo gallery/Album
  • Wiki

At first this seems really cool. I'm afraid, however, this could be a dangerous proposition. What kind of QA would go into this (it would have to be extensive)? How extensible/customizable would they be (should they be open source)? I'm not saying don't do it - it is amazingly intriguing - just opening the door for discussion here I guess. I did add an option in the 'other' text box for this one. It happens to be the same thing my top secret 1Q project is. I'm not going to tell you what it is though ;)

Make sure you fill out the survey. Our feedback truly does make a difference!

Russell Brown's Gravatar I don't want any applications bundled with my ColdFusion Server. I'd rather they spent the time working on the actual server than code I can write my self or buy/download from a million places already!!!
