I'm thrilled to announce the release of a new set of features on SlideSix that further our goal of becoming the premier multimedia presentation sharing community on the web. First and foremost in this release is support for external multimedia. This means that you can now perform a single search from within our management console that will look for matching videos on YouTube and Vimeo. Once you have found the video you'd like to embed you simply attach it to your slide and the video will be displayed as a new slide in your presentation. Many folks have asked for this feature and I believe that it has been implemented in such a way that is true to the core vision of SlideSix - easy to use but extremely powerful. In the spirit eating my own dog food, the following presentation provides a nice intro and overview of this exciting new feature:

I'm also happy to finally launch an API that developers can be use to integrate SlideSix into their sites and hopefully create some interesting mashups. The API is pretty comprehensive, giving developers the ability to interact with the majority of the functionality available to our users. The following methods are available:

• Authenticating
• Editing A User Profile
• Retrieve User Groups
• Creating User Groups
• Editing User Groups
• Retrieving Presentations (Does not require authentication)
• Creating Presentations

To use the API you'll need to obtain an API key. Log into the management console, click 'Edit Profile', and then select 'Developer API Keys' to fill out the form to get a key. Other enhancements/fixes as part of this release:

• Increased slide resolution
• Increased max file upload size from 10mb to 50mb
• Added password input field on upload form (for private presentations)
• Adjust presentation viewer to accommodate 'portrait' oriented PDF files
• Added 'Disable Auto Play' to viewer menu (will prevent video from auto playing when slides advance)
• Auto show media window for slides that have audio/video narration
• Adjusted management console layout to accommodate lower resolution monitors

I should also mention that the credits page has been updated. Specifically I'd like to thank Ray Camden for his Vimeo CFC and YouTube CFC which made searching for external videos a breeze. Thanks Ray!!
